Her “No” should have been enough for your thirsty flesh

Been enough to make you feel some sort of compassion
to think of the woman who bore you
enough to tame the animal rising in you
but the only thing that was enough
was her tired and broken body
after you had what was enough for you
Her “NO” wasn’t just enough

Being Female

You see ,

We understand you are fascinated by our structure and strength
that comes in different shades
The rhythm of our movement even when there is no music can be astonishing
Guilty as charged , a few may have rubbed it in your face
It’s beautiful that you are fascinated
but don’t let your fascination propel your hands to think us as objects
to handle in a manner of disrespect
or let it control your lips to utter words of abuse and hate
or just many empty words that you don’t mean just to get us horizontal

We are thankful you see us as unique and visible
but don’t look so hard that you strip us of our dignity
X-raying through our clothed bodies
I wouldn’t cheer you on just yet as I see how invisible we get
when we start to count the years and our bodies have seen generations pass
soon you think we have no voice because we don’t “look the part ”

But I applaud you ,
you who see us as sisters , friends , lovers , wives, mothers and colleagues
Even if you look so hard your vision of us is dignity and poise
A cushion to rely on and shoulders of strength
Even with our numerous emotions you stand by us and comfort us
Though we say 100 things at a time you understand the single message we are trying to pass across but you let us talk anyways if not we’d start venting to ourselves and soon be seen as mad

To you like me
You are more than breasts and thighs
You aren’t a chicken meal at KFC
Don’t sell yourself cheap
No, don’t sell yourself at all
You are priceless
Wear your crown like the queen you are

Times may be hard
The world may want to teach you what to do to gain series of temporary attention
Try to be strong and shot out all the noise
Cloth yourself in dignity and integrity
Your mind guarded with knowledge
Teach your hands to work ( honest work ) and be skilful at it
Let me be a woman but I cannot be what I do not understand

Like Elisabeth Elliot said,
To understand the meaning of womanhood we have to start with God. If He is indeed “Creator of all things visible and invisible” He is certainly in charge of all things, visible and invisible, stupendous and miniscule, magnificent and trivial. God has to be in charge of details if He is going to be in charge of the overall design”

Yesterday’s girl; Today’s woman

It took sweat and tears to become the lady you see
A whole lot of the Lord’s mercy and grace
It took internal and external scars to walk tall
There was a lot of laughter too
A lot of happy memories were made
but lots of , I shouldn’t haves
Regret you call it , Yes
but experiences that taught me the hard way

I can only think of my daughters
I took this bullets for you
bullets I wished I didn’t take
as it cost me part of my innocence
and part of my thoughts
My mind replaying and replaying it
but i wouldn’t sulk over all i’ve been through
although I am saddened each time I think back

If i could cage my thoughts permanently i would
so it doesn’t fly each time
and leave me wishing I could turn back the hands of time
to that minute where it all started
where I let you into my apartment
where i let you peck me on the cheek and hand
where I let you move your fingers
where I let myself move too close

My scars are your lessons
Hurdles to avoid
When he starts talking of how his body feels when he is around you
Telling you of his vulgar experience with ladies
sparing you no details so your mind starts imagining yourself in their place
It’s all part of his plan
to play on your emotions and let your emotions run
panting and pacing towards him

Your innocence is precious
I’d say to the girl of yesterday
not just the part of it but the whole of it
Once you let your guard down your mind is tampered with
and with each encounter you are eager to explore further
Even though the thorns sting ,
You are eager to see the petals
smell the roses of lust

You never forget your first encounter
It may not have lead to the loss of your jewel
but every closeness breaks the glass that shields that jewel
Yesterday’s girl
don’t see your self as strong when it comes with the matters of the heart
so you let anyone come in and dance to his tune
It might be easy for you to brush yourself up
but their foot prints are left on your heart
and finger print in your soul

Today’s woman be on guard
and  keep it that way
bury your head in your fight for your innocence
Wear your armour to shield you from the darts of your lust
raise your standards way higher than your heels
stand for something or you’d fall for anything momma said
make your decisions
think of the consequences before you act
Remember how you feel after
and how your thoughts haunt you
thinking of how God abhors it

Think of your yesterday’s girl
all the lovely memories
and lessons you learnt
The lovely people you met especially your family
The few perfect gentlemen that you came across
and build your today’s woman
I’m the yesterday’s girl but also the today’s woman

Don’t Call a spade a Hoe

Don’t Call a spade a hoe
Where murder is called choice
fornication is called dating
Lust taken as love
Where the so called right to choose
reaps an unborn baby
of the right to live
where lies are tagged white lies
where abuse is called dancing

Where a baby is called a fetus
to make oneself feel better
as the baby is reaped limb from limb
by a man/ woman who clams to be helping the girl
when in actual fact he wants his pocket to smile
The girl who claims she is not ready to bare a child
but was willing to enjoy the pleasures
that led to the conception

Do not play the rape card!!
This is being done mostly in non-rape cases
but for the rape cases,
I cry with you and may you be comforted in Christ
but using a sin to heal a sin would never cause healing
Do not let your unborn child
drink the hurt they knew nothing about

Where the death of an animal
is deeply mourned more than the lives of millions
of babies killed by “doctors”
Where adultery is called an affair
where vulgar speech is seen as cool
Where selfishness is called self worth
where greed is taken as a search for fulfilment
standing for the truth is taken as hate
Speaking the truth as being judgemental
where male is taken as female and vice versa
Where boastful speech is taken as testimony
or confidence

Where a lady is called holier than thou
because she decides not to show some skin
but wait!! she does
Isn’t her hands or palms or elbows showing
or see her feet and calf
what covers those areas, isn’t that skin?
Oh you meant the skin of her regions
which is not meant to be on display
to your thirsty eyes

Where little or no cloths
is taken as expressing ones femininity
and embracing ones body  type
Taken as being bold
and without a care in the world of what any one says
or the temptation they offer
leading men to sin in their thoughts
and disrespect them in their heart
Sometimes viewing them at tools and objects

Where a young girl or boy in their teens
is laughed at by a group of “friends”
when they are all making plans to lose it in their sixth form
But he or she says they are saving it for marriage
Don’t shrink back guys and girls on this path
Your decision is pleasing to God
Before whom you and
all your friends would give an account

Don’t call a spade a hoe
Where Lies are applauded
because it goes with protocol and policy
but sincerity of heart and speech is trampled upon
This is the world we live in
where being politically correct prevents one
from mentioning, God (Christ)
Or prevents one from talking of  his believe in Christ
and how this believe governs his lifestyle

where those who stand for Christ are killed
or mocked
We were warned and it is expected
so let us not be surprised
but hold on to our strength and great reward
Christ!!!In every labour
But let us not call a spade a hoe

Where this piece would be tagged as ;
a hate speech
each line tagged as judgemental,
A confrontational toned piece
not speaking the truth in love
but that’s ok
I rather call a spade a spade
It’s not about pointing fingers
but pointing fingers where it needs to be pointed

I will not call a spade a hoe
In my life, as God opens my eyes to my shortcomings
as i study His word and warn me through people
when i say or do things I should not or
don’t say or do things I should
when I am filled with pride
forgetting i came into this world with nothing
and would leave with nothing
though it hurts to use the spade in my life,
I rather call a spade a spade
and run back to Christ in repentance

We are in the farm of our lives
Our daily activities and daily lives
With a spade but we call it a hoe
When faced with situations that go contrary
To our values and believes
When we are confronted and asked questions
To see what our stand is or
for people to get validation

Take courage farmers in the vine yard
Call the spade you carry a spade
and use it to uproot all falsehood
All fear sown by farmers leaving for now
Trying to shut up everyone
serving that bitter pill, Truth
Who think they have forever in this life
To continue  ploughing with a spade
but because they’ve been blinded
by the god of this world ,
they call it a hoe

Thinking the harvest they get would last forever
but it won’t
for time would tell
and it would be in the favour of those who stood for the truth
Those that called a spade a spade!
